(vmodl.fault.SystemError) { faultCause = null, faultMessage = null, reason = invalid fault }<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>vCenter version 6.7.0 build-17137327<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today I had an issue with one of our vCenters when creating the vSphere tag. Suddenly it pops up below the error message. As always do start with googling but there were no relevant KBs for this. Sometimes this might be a bug of this version. But finally tried to find a solution. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SSH to the VCSA appliance and searched through the logs. (<strong>sso logs, vpxd etc<\/strong> )<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fortunately I remember there is a setting to check because I had one issue with host addition. I thought that might not be related to this but I just want to check whether that is okay or not? I was impressed it was changed to read only. Normally the same issue was experienced last time when adding an ESXi host to the cluster. Please perform the below steps to check the VMDIR state.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Step 01:     <strong>Login to VCSA through SSH<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/systemsmedic.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/2021-06-17_17h09_30.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-174\" width=\"622\" height=\"282\" srcset=\"https:\/\/systemsmedic.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/2021-06-17_17h09_30.png 560w, https:\/\/systemsmedic.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/2021-06-17_17h09_30-300x136.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 622px) 100vw, 622px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Step 02:   <strong>Open the vdcadmintool using below command<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-amber-color\">\/usr\/lib\/vmware-vmdir\/bin\/vdcadmintool<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"616\" height=\"504\" src=\"https:\/\/systemsmedic.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/2021-06-17_17h11_34.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-175\" srcset=\"https:\/\/systemsmedic.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/2021-06-17_17h11_34.png 616w, https:\/\/systemsmedic.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/2021-06-17_17h11_34-300x245.png 300w, https:\/\/systemsmedic.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/2021-06-17_17h11_34-600x491.png 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 616px) 100vw, 616px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>You can see the option listed above. It should be as <strong>Normal<\/strong> to perform the operation in vCenter. It just applies when we set. I presume this setting relates to most of the issues so better check this first when you have some unknown issues.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally the issue is resolved after changing the vmdir state.
